BRIEF SELF - INTRODUCTION

Nguyen Ngoc Lan
Quoc Hoc High School, Vietnam

My name is Lan. I am now a student in year 12 of Quoc Hoc High School. My school is famous all over the country because it was where many outstanding Vietnamese studied in the past, namely President Ho Chi Minh, former Prime-Minister Pham Van Dong, General Vo Nguyen Giap etc. I come from Hue, a city on the Perfume River, which was the capital city of Vietnam for a long time. I'm very proud of my hometown because it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful cities in Vietnam. It has also been recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.
At school, I like studying English, Mathematics and History. My hobbies are swimming, reading, watching movies, surfing the Internet and traveling. I have been to Australia and Russia, but this is my first visit to Japan.
In the future, I hope to be a diplomat so as to introduce to the world an image of a friendly and peaceful Vietnam as well as to contribute to the promotion of world peace.

MY EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ASIA PEACE YOUTH SEMINAR

Attending the Asia Peace Youth Seminar as a representative of the Vietnamese youth is a perfect opportunity for me to meet the youths of Japan, Korea and the Philippines. I hope it will help me learn more about the culture, traditions of those countries. This will, in my opinion, go a long way towards promoting mutual relationship and friendship.
More importantly, I do not think it is a coincidence that we will pay a visit to Nagasaki, a city which was severely destroyed by the atomic bomb in the World War II. Besides, as all the four countries participating have suffered tremendously from the war, I believe we are clearly reminded of how destructive and terrible a war can become, thus, how precious peace is to mankind. Therefore, I expect to have a chance to express my points of view as well as to listen to opinions of the youths on the matter of peace.
Thirdly, I would also like to exchange experience and ideas on ways to help other people in my generation to realize and understand the importance of peace and stability.
Last but not least, I hope we will, in the end, have the same view on peace matters and make an effort to turn all the plans and expectations into reality.
